The search for Bukit Tabur started many years ago, a mysterious place said to afford a magnificient view of the Klang Gates reservoir AND a sweeping view of the KL city skyline, all in one long breath-taking panorama.

It wasn't until last month that I found myself, through Eric, someone who can proudly announce that he knows this place like the back of his hand. And so an excursion was set to finally head up this place.

Eric, Jo, Mike and myself started the ascend around 5am, accompanying us throughout the 1.5 hour journey was this cute, quiet, constantly sneezing, local breed dog. Jo says it'll follow the first hiking gang up every morning. I thought it's really sweet to have it tag along with us as we snaked our way up in darkness holding torchlights or wearing headlights.

We reached the famous rocky point and waited patiently for the magnificient sunrise, tripod set and camera ready. But disappointingly it never did come as it's destined to be a rather gloomy morning. *sigh*

Fortunately this also meant that the remaining journey up to the summit will not get unbearably hot. I almost wanted to agree that this was indeed an easy hike, until we started hitting a few slightly more challenging spots where we had to do some rock climbing. Darn, I had to keep my SLR safe in the bag to focus on the task, so didn't quite capture all the exciting moments. :(

But of course, Bukit Tabur is no 3-hour flight away. I'm sure to be back again soon for the legendary sunrise.

AND a photo of the dog as well. :)
